May 1 -- Annual Cherokee Native Plants and Heritage Seeds Program
Event held Saturday at the New Echota State Historic Site, Calhoun, Georgia. $5.00 adults, 4.50 Seniors (62 & over), and $3.50 Youth (6-17).
May Garden Ministry
The Calhoun First United Methodist Church invites the community to join them in their Garden Ministry. It’s simple: If you grow a garden or will grow a garden, grow a little more than you need. Bring your extra produce by the Methodist Church (205 E Line Street) and place it on the tables under the trees or give the church a call at 706-403-4598 (the garden line) and the church will send a car to pick up your bags and save you a trip! If you need help with food, come by and fill a bag from the tables. Please choose just enough for your family.

May 14—15- Camp & Care Weekend
Pay for Friday and Saturday camping is free! Silent auction proceeds will go to KOA Care Camps. May 15, & 16 Battle of Resaca Reenactment
Battle of Resaca Reenactment, A two day event featuring re-enactors, held on actual battlefield. Events will include: Memorial service at the C.S.A. cemetery; Exciting battles both Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.; Ladies Tea with Guest Speaker; Tour the camps and talk to the soldiers; Cavalry competition; Period dance with music by the 8th Regimental Band; Sunday morning tactical; Period church service; Continuous living history activities; Shop Sutler row for period wares; Food and beverages available; Live Civil War music; Reenactor used clothing "yard sale”; Adults $5, Children 12 & under $2.00 I-75 & Exit 320; Resaca, GA (706-625-3200).

May 19 7th Annual Golf Benefit
The family of Howard W. Jones is planning the 7th Annual Golf Benefit at Fields Ferry Golf Course in Calhoun, Georgia on May 19. All proceeds will continue to help build the future cancer center in Gordon County. The event will begin with a light lunch at 11:30 m at Mulligan’s and the shot gun start will begin at 12:00 noon.
