July Garden Ministry
The Calhoun First United Methodist Church invites the community to join them in their Garden Ministry. It’s simple: If you grow a garden or will grow a garden, grow a little more than you need. Bring your extra produce by the Methodist Church (205 E Line Street) and place it on the tables under the trees or give the church a call at 706-403-4598 (the garden line) and the church will send a car to pick up your bags and save you a trip! If you need help with food, come by and fill a bag from the tables. Please choose just enough for your family.

July 12 SEBA
Calhoun Hosts Bluegrass Jam With historical groups such as the Georgia Yellow Hammers and the Baxter Brothers coming out of the area, Calhoun has a long history of string band and bluegrass music. Southeastern Bluegrass Association (SEBA) chapter co-presidents Steve Dyrda and Ken Hamilton are happy to announce the formation of a Calhoun Chapter. Beginning Feb. 8, the Calhoun Chapter will hold a bluegrass jam the second Sunday of every month from 2-5 PM at the Harris Arts Center. The arts center’s Ratner Theater provides more than enough room for all the musicians. All skill levels are welcome, and there will be plenty of slow jams. Pickers from Dalton, Sugar Valley, Chatsworth, Fairmount, Rome, Kingston & Adairsville and all other surrounding communities—as well as any others who can make it to Calhoun—are invited. No bluegrass lover will want to miss this new monthly event. The general public is invited, and you do not have to be a musician to attend. There is no admission charge and parking is free. The Harris Arts Center is located at 212 South Wall Street, Calhoun. For more information, call HAC at 706-620-2599 or Steve Dyrda at 770-608-8729 or visit www.sebabluegrass.org
