November 1-30-Documented Rights
The National Archives at Atlanta features more than 80 documents, images, photographs and sound recordings that chronicle the evolution of human and civil rights in the United States. From a slave manifest dated 1844 to the five cases that comprised the 1984 Brown v Board of Education decision, the exhibit gives voice to those who fought for or championed personal rights and freedoms. Each of the exhibits five historic theaters features a signature personality and thematic song. FREE ADMISSION. November 7- Lake Spivey Road Race
Lake Spivey Community, Inc. and Rainbow House, Inc. have teamed up to sponsor a 15K road race, 5K run/walk, 1 mile run/walk and Tot-Trot fundraiser to benefit Rainbow House.Both races start and finish at the Clayton County International Park (The Beach). Parking is also at the park. The 15K and 5K runners start near the south gate of the park heading east on Walt Stephens Road. Registration starts at 6:30AM-7:45AM at Clayton County Int'l Park (The Beach) 2300 Hwy 138 Jonesboro G A 30236. The 15K and 5K start at 8:00am. Cost is $25.00 ($30.00 after October 3rd, $35.00 after October 24th, $40.00 on race day, Please add $15.00 if you plan to run in both races. There is also a 1-mile run/walk and a Tot-Trot for those age 6 and under. All runners and walkers will receive a race shirt and winners will receive awards.
